The Pledge

GWRRA Number

Losers for this month, who are here tonight, are Dannie and Denise Smith.  Darliene cries out that she thinks she and Doy should get credit because their number was in the newsletter, too.  OK, she gets credit - but no money!

T-Shirts

Kathy talked about the problems of getting the screens from the people in Altus.  After checking several other places in the lawton area, she has decided that our best bet is to stick with one of our own - Lezlie Wright in Hobart.

Kathy went over tentative prices for the different types of shirts available - polo, tee, denin, embroidered, screened, long-sleeved, short-sleeved, etc.  Susie and she got together the other night to try to come up with a new design.  They came up with some ideas and suggestions.  One creative moment was when they came up with a few lines copying a credit card TV ad.

Naturally the more shirts we buy at one time, the cheaper the cost.  The crowd agreed to go ahead and purchase as many shirts and sizes as possible so that we will have a good supply on hand for the months down the road.  Kathy thinks if we order 30 in various sizes now, this will keep the cost down.  An inquiry went out asking for those who would prefer long-sleeves, short-sleeves, and/or both.

Introduction of Guest

Grant asked the guest to stand up.  Billy Hope stood up, made some quick come-backs for some barbs from Grant, and then came the zinger!  Susie made a comment which blew the crowd into an uproar.  Thus went the intro for their daughter, Kayla.

The Urine Bottle

Grant made the rounds of some doctor's offices and collected a mess of medicine bottles that we could use to hold our personal information.  He was tempted to fill them all up with some Mountain Dew to make them look authentic.  Kathy passed out some sticky labels to place on the container.

Rich commented that Wing World had a story about having the info available in the left side box or saddlebag.  Darliene said a friend has a chapter that uses dog tags.   The emergency people won't take the time to search your bike for some paperwork.  They find that dog tags are quicker and easier to find in a time of emergency.

August Ride

Grant feels with the 105º temps out there now, it might be a good idea to forego the August ride till September and October.  If anyone wants to lead a ride, please let Grant know.

October District Rally

They will be putting on a trike course in Muskogee on that Friday.

Grant asked "Will we be doing a basket this year like we did last year?"  Some discussion about how little money came back to us, the strong competition from the other large chapters with some really big prizes.  Kathy and Paula will talk about this later.  Possibly we can concentrate on the newsletters and scrapbook contests instead.

Wing Ding

Tulsa will be the host city next July 4th weekend.  Good motels are hard to find right now.  Possibly Owasso and towns further away may have some rooms available.  The event is scheduled for July 2 - 5, 2009 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds.  Everything will be inside.

Doug and Lezlie Wright spoke about their experience at this year's Wing Ding in South Carolina.

Michigan Vacations

Darliene spoke about their trip to Michigan.  Darliene's mom (Ruby Eldridge) says "HI" to all of us.  One word to describe their trip - HOT.  It was just as hot up there as it was here in Oklahoma land.  Doy asked Wes to stand up for some reason as he had a gift to present to wes.  It wasn't a Hummingbird light.  It wasn't an iPhone either.  But it was close.  It was a Hillbilly Cell Phone - no batteries required.  It even has a cute little antenna.  It even has a clothespin on the back so it could be hanging on your belt.  There was a second gift, too.  This was a Bald Headed Man's Hairbrush.  Was Wes impressed, or what?

Sam and Angie Money Report

As they are way too busy to make tonight's meeting, there will be no report from them.

The Education Report from max

Max wanted to rermind people that anyone that works on post have access to some free training available for the two courses: Basic Rider Course and Experienced Rider Course.  They have two classes per week.

VoTech has two classes going on during the weekends.  Cost is $75.

Dinner Rides To Come

Two locations were selected.  September will be all the way to Arcadia, OK to Pops.  October will be Johnny Corrino's in Wichita Falls.

Dave Brown Reports

Action on the website has been a little better.  Dave did say that if anyone was looking for a Gold Wing 1800, his Gold Wing is for sale.  Grant slanted his head to ask Dave if he was going to be buying a used 2003 Illusion Blue form someone out in Elgin.  Of course, Grant's cycle is still for sale, too.

Tom and Paula Reports

Paula is back at her old job, so her day is full once again.  We heard about their ongoing struggles with the building of their garage out there in the country.

50/50

7246 is the magic ticket number we are looking for.  There was a delay before someone found it in their collection.  Have no idea how much the winner received nor who the winner was.

Kayle Hope

Kayla spoke about a cause she has been doing the past 14 years where she goes to OKC area to drop off toys during the Christmas season at any place where they will allow her to do so.  Ever since Kayla was 3 years old in isolation, she had the situation where some State Troopers were giving out toys to the patients in her hospital, including herself.

Billy spoke about the great feeling they have as a family in going up there every year to give away toys to kids in hospitals.  We all have been lucky in that we can enjoy our healthy lives, but there are so many out there that can not enjoy life as we know it.  Grant is hoping the chapter can decide to help with passing out toys.  Perhaps we could go with Billy and Susie to help them make their effort even better.

Grant asked them to think about this and come back to us a little later to see if there is anything we can do as a chapter.

Another Guest

We have another guest, Kurt
